According to TripAdvisor, Toronto has some of the best hotels in the world; and also the worst. Previous guests are not shy to review their accommodations, holding nothing back when describing their worst hotel experiences. From rodents to stained sheets, these hotels didn't make Curbed's list of the 18 Essential Toronto Hotels. We've mapped out some of the worst rated hotels on the site and see why guests are saying to save your dough.

Oh the smell, Oh the management. We were somewhat glad that we never stayed the night, since the place had a horrible smell of rotting flesh and strong detergent, the place was very dirty, electrical wiring hung loose from the walls, and the staff was poorly trained and rude. No low price could make up for it. -Reviewer, Backpackers Hostel on Dundas Booked a pet friendly room due to ice storm in Toronto. The room was dirty..stank like animal urine and the staff was less than friendly. NEVER AGAIN! Even in an emergency will my family or I stay there! -Reviewer, Howard Johnson, Toronto East
