Streetcar's Parkdale Triple-Header: Today, 8G

Last week we posted about Streetcar Developments's takeover of one entire block near Queen Street West and Gladstone Avenue; over the next couple of years they're dropping three separate condo projects onto the site. Today let's look at the second; 8 Gladstone, or 8G for short.

8 Gladstone has 89 units spread over eight storeys, with suites ranging in size from the 471 sq. ft. one-bedroom to the 1212 sq. ft. two-bedroom+den penthouse. It's nearly fully occupied, with just two of the larger units still available. The building's exterior features rosy brick and frosted-glass balconies, and while Streetcar's statement that 8G "takes inspiration from the historic Gladstone Hotel" seems a little generous, its scale is similar to the Gladstone's, and it blends with its location pretty well. Some interesting design choices were made; for example, all suites have textured porcelain-tile flooring throughout (except in the bedrooms), instead of laminate or engineered hardwood. Try not to drop any glassware.

As part of Streetcar's planned community, 8G will share outdoor amenities with The Carnaby and Twenty Lofts, including the "animated laneway" and the urban park with picnic area and bandshell.
