Developer Will Dominate This West Queen West Block

Streetcar Developments are about to dominate an entire block near Queen Street West and Gladstone Avenue. The developers have pretty big name recognition in the East end with the Taylor and the Carlaw projects (and they just bought Jilly's strip club). Now they have a planned West-end community on the go, too, with three separate projects all in construction or pre-construction; the Carnaby, 8G, and Twenty. Let's have a look at all three; today, the Carnaby.

The Carnaby consists of two phases; Phase 1 is a 20-storey, 213-loft tower, and Phase 2 will have four boutique loft buildings with an additional 224 units. The lofts will be sized from the tiny 433 sq. ft. junior one-bedroom ( all the way up to two-storey 1,425 sq. ft. three-bedroom + den units. To increase the feeling of connectedness and community, the Carnaby will also connect to the other developments on the site via a landscaped laneway, with shops, galleries and studios. The land on the project's west side is being turned into a park, with picnic areas and a performance space that will advantage of the land's slope. Eventually the Carlaw (and the other developments) will connect to the West Toronto Railpath, making it a good option for buyers who bike. Have a look at some renderings, and a few shots of the model suite (don't miss the big Rolling-Stones-lips art on the bedroom wall).
