Schools For Sale

Two Toronto schools that were poised for redevelopment will likely not be turned into condos and instead be purchased by another school board. The Catholic District School Board has put in an offer to purchase Bloor Collegiate Institute and Kent Senior Public School; outbidding a developer who wanted to turn the Bloor-Dufferin property into condos. Both "surplus" schools are located on one piece of land, and while Kent closed in 2012, Bloor Collegiate remains open. What's next for these two schools if the Catholic board takes over? A revitalization is required. [Globe]
