Local residents in the South Harbord Village neighbourhood are petitioning against the Toronto District School Board's plans to expand Central Tech High School's outdoor field; covering it with a large year-round dome. Residents are concerned the artificial turf is a health hazard to students and a significant disruption to the neighbourhood due to increased parking and traffic congestion. In the meantime, city council recently adopted a motion to make Central Tech a heritage property. [Change.org]
