Fire Destroys Church Being Converted Into Lofts on Dufferin

A former Presbyterian Church at Dufferin and Dupont Street being converted into lofts was destroyed by a massive fire late Friday afternoon. 25 fire trucks were called to the scene at 1183 Dufferin St. to battle the uncontrollable blaze, fire officials concerned the church built in the 1900s would collapse. The cause of the fire is yet to be determined. The project acquired by developer Concept Lofts Ltd., was to convert the church into the Sanctuary Lofts, with 14 units ranging in size from 600 to 1,765 square feet, prices starting at $349,000. According to the realtor who was shocked by the news, the builder is hoping to maintain what remains of the church before redeveloping site plans. The company had planned to include much of the church's original character into their design. Will the project go ahead as scheduled? Curbed will keep you posted but in the meantime, perhaps someone should remove this creepy promotional video for the Sanctuary Lofts.
