Summer's Over, Ripley's Aquarium Still Not Opened

Something is starting to smell fishy in the downtown core. The opening of Toronto's new, Ripley's Aquarium of Canada, has been delayed. Originally scheduled to open in June at the base of the CN Tower, Ripley's is now saying that a September launch date is more likely. General Manager, Peter Doyle, says it's not a construction delay that's postponed the opening. "What really takes time is re-creating a marine environment with 557,000 pounds of salt," Doyle tells The Star. Fair enough.

When opened, Ripley's Aquarium will house about 15,000 creatures including a natural blue lobster, king crabs, sharks and a 6-metre-deep moving kelp forest.

Ripley's Aquarium of Canada
Address: 288 Bremner Boulevard

Cool things to do: Sleep with the Sharks (might scare the kids but sounds like fun); and a behind the scenes tour.
