It's time to make up a bunch of awards and hand them out to the most deserving people, places and things in the real estate, architecture and neighbourhood universes of Toronto! Yep, it's time for the Curbed Awards! Up now: Blockbuster Real Estate Sales!
This year, Toronto saw the massive real estate sale of a major corner in Toronto, Mirvish Village including Honest Ed's at Bathurst and Bloor. Businessman David Mirvish signed a deal with Westbank Properties to purchase the 1.8-hectare parcel land. Although the sale price is undisclosed, the asking price was a cool $100-million. In North York, another blockbuster sale took the cake this year with Bayview Village Shopping Centre sold to a BC investment company for $500-million. We might see additional development activity in the upscale mall; sources indicate the parking lot might be developed into high-rise condominiums. Interestingly, the sale doesn't include the Loblaws inside the mall which is owned by the grocery chain. What will we see in 2014? Curbed will keep you posted.
