Leaside Residents Oppose First Condo For Laird Drive

Leaside residents are concerned over the proposed new condo on Laird Drive, making the building the street's first condo. Owners in the area are concerned about the height and density of the building and setting a new precedent to build future condos on the street. The proposed development at 2 Laird Dr. is a seven-storey, 78-unit building with underground parking. City councillor John Parker opposes the proposal commenting that "a development of this size would add density and traffic" to the area. An appeal has been filed to the Ontario Municipal Board (OMB) scheduled for February 2014. In recent years, Laird and Eglinton has transformed from a light industrial area to a shopping destination, posing the question is Laird ready for its first condo?
