The DUKE Condos, named after its location near Dundas Street and Keele Avenue, has only six-storeys and 90 units. Units range in size from 450 to 1,600 square feet, priced in the low $200,000s. It's one of the first loft developments in the Junction neighbourhood and perhaps we'll continue to see a boom of future modern buildings. The Junction is known for its vintage and design shops, and an up-and-coming food destination with good eats like Farmhouse Tavern, Beet Organic Cafe and old school favourite Vesuvio Pizzeria.
These BlogTO readers gave the new loft building mixed reviews saying that, "the Junction needs more places like this" while some didn't like the design commenting that "the building will stick out like a sore thumb." Mainly, readers went on a rant, discussing whether the building will attract similar "hipsters" like a neighbouring condo at 60 Heintzman Street. Either way, the estimated completion date for the DUKE condos is fall/winter 2015.
