Last week, city council voted to seize Captain John's Restaurant, the famous floating eatery that's been docked at the foot of Yonge Street for more than a year. Owner John Letnik owes more than $1 million in taxes, licensing fees and rent to the Toronto Port Authority. Cityzen Developments, the developer for the new Pier 27 Condos on the Waterfront, offered financial assistance to have the ship removed from its neighbouring tower telling the Toronto Star, "that thing is just ugly."
