Construction for the luxury U Condominiums and Urban Townhouses is well underway at the corner of Bay and St. Mary Street with framing and concrete foundation nearly complete. Designed by architect Peter Clewes with developer Pemberton Group, the complex consists of two residential towers and 19 urban townhouses with 2,600 square feet units from $2.5 to $3.4 million. "The Surrey" urban townhouse won the award for "Best New Home Design Semi-Detached or Townhome over 1,500 square feet" at the 2013 Building Industry and Land Development Association BILD Awards.

The area just south of Yonge and Bloor Street has always been a dreary mix of rental apartments, student accommodation and government buildings. We're now seeing a shift to more upscale living with new highrise developments like the Britt Residences and Murano Condominiums at Bay and Wellesley Street, bringing more life to the area.
